Children’s Promise Act Tax Credit

Did you know you can turn your Mississippi state tax dollars into direct support for children in foster care? Through the Children’s Promise Act, an approved gift to MCH can qualify for a dollar-for-dollar state tax credit. The process takes just a few easy steps, and there’s still time for businesses to apply in 2025. Individuals can apply starting January 1, 2026!

Steps for Individuals:

Apply Risk Free for a Tax Credit
Scroll to “Apply Online” and select “Apply for a Charitable Contribution Credit.” Select QFCCO. You'll receive notice with a confirmation number and letter ID from MSDOR within 14 days.

Make Your Contribution
Send your donation to Methodist Children’s Homes of Mississippi (MCH). You have 60 days to make your contribution. We’ll provide an official gift receipt for your records.

Upload Your Gift Receipt
Return to the Department of Revenue portal and upload your receipt to finalize your tax credit.

 Apply in 2026: An individual is allowed a tax credit of up to $3,000 filing jointly ($1,500 filing single) in a QFCCO.

Steps for Businesses:

Make Your Contribution
Send your donation to Methodist Children’s Homes of Mississippi (MCH). You have 60 days to make your contribution. We’ll provide an official gift receipt for your records.

Upload Your Gift Receipt
Return to the Department of Revenue portal and upload your receipt to finalize your tax credit.

APPLY NOW!

Apply NOW: The amount of the reduction is up to ½ of your tax bill for businesses. If you do not use the tax credit in one year, you do not lose it. You can take the credit over the next five (5) years immediately following your gift.
