Our History

Begun in 1896 as an orphanage, MCH has been home to more than 11, 000 children. After fire destroyed the original home in Water Valley in 1906, MCH relocated to Jackson. The familiar campus, located at the corner of North West Street and Woodrow Wilson Drive, served MCH until 1990. In order to meet the changing needs of vulnerable children in Mississippi, MCH currently implements programing to care for these children in group homes in communities throughout Mississippi.

While we have added other services to complement this care, the mission of our agency remains unchanged - to provide residential care for children who have been abused and neglected.
